FAQ's
The Barefoot Collective is a wellness retreat company creating thoughtfully curated journeys that reconnect guests with nature, with others and with themselves.Barefoot is how we feel when we finally slow down - grounded, unhurried and connected to the earth beneath us. The Collective is the community that forms around that feeling: small groups of like-minded wanderers sharing experiences, long meals, conversations and a sense of discovery. The name is a quiet invitation: take your shoes off, take your time, and let the journey bring you back to what matters most.
Each retreat is built around four simple principles: restore, explore, connect and return. Days blend mindful movement and restorative sessions with exploration of the local landscape and culture, seasonal food prepared by local chefs, and plenty of unhurried time to rest. Every retreat is thoughtfully paced - enough experiences to feel immersed, enough space to truly switch off. Full itineraries can be found on each retreat page.
Everything you need to fully arrive. Accommodation, all meals prepared with local seasonal ingredients, daily movement and restorative sessions, guided cultural experiences, and the kind of unhurried time that's genuinely hard to come by. Full details are shared on the retreat page, but do feel free to enquire if unsure.
Not at all, yoga and mindful movement are one thread of the week, not the whole cloth. The Barefoot Collective is designed for people at every stage of their wellness journey. Whether you've had a dedicated practice for years or you're simply looking to spend more time moving, resting and reconnecting in nature, you'll be warmly welcomed. Our facilitators meet you exactly where you are.
Each retreat is kept intentionally small and intimate, so spaces are limited and tend to fill quickly once booking opens. Limited spaces mean a more personal experience for everyone. There's no pressure to decide on the spot, but if a retreat is calling you, an early enquiry is the best way to secure your space and your preferred room. We'll always talk it through with you first to make sure it's the right fit.
Pricing is dependent on location, length of the retreat, room type and occupancy. Room prices and add-ons for each retreat are indicated on each retreat page. If in doubt, get in touch and we can answer any questions.
A deposit is required to secure your place, with the remaining balance due 45 or 60 days before the retreat begins, as indicated on each retreat page. You can pay the balance in one lump sum or in agreed instalments, provided the full balance is paid by the 45/60-day deadline.
Many of our guests are first timers, and the retreats are designed with exactly that in mind. No yoga experience or fitness level is required, every activity is optional, and there is a careful balance of rest and activity throughout the week. If you've been craving time to slow down, eat well, move mindfully and be somewhere beautiful, you already have everything a retreat asks of you.
Yes, absolutely - solo travellers are some of our favourite guests, and many arrive alone and leave with friends. Part of what makes a Barefoot Collective retreat special is the community that forms. Groups are kept small and intimate, meals are shared like dinners among friends, and the week naturally weaves people together without ever forcing it. Join in as much or as little as you like; the balance of company and solitude is entirely yours. This is your time, for you.
Of course. Retreats are lovely shared, and our twin and double rooms are ideal for friends or couples travelling together, with sharing rates that make it the best value way to join. You'll each find your own rhythm during the week: practise together or apart, wander off on different afternoons, and come back together over long dinners. You are very welcome to bring a partner or friend who doesn't practice yoga - our yoga sessions are entirely optional, like every other activity on our retreats.
Yes, and it's protected on purpose. Every retreat is intentionally paced with unhurried hours built into each day - to read by the pool, nap, journal, walk or simply sit and watch the landscape. Nothing on the schedule is compulsory, so introverts and quiet-seekers are as well looked after as the sociable. The aim is that you leave rested, not needing a holiday to recover from your holiday.
A well designed retreat gives you what everyday life rarely does: uninterrupted time to rest, move, eat well and think clearly. Time in nature has been shown to lower stress and restore focus - and it's the foundation of everything we do at The Barefoot Collective. Guests typically leave with deeper sleep, a calmer nervous system, new friendships and a clearer sense of what they want to return to. As we like to say, it's not an escape from your life - it's a return to yourself.
Every retreat is built around five principles: nature, connection, intention, exploration and simplicity. Rather than packed schedules or rigid programmes, we curate a small number of beautiful experiences - and leave generous space between them. Locations are chosen for their landscapes, venues for their light and calm, and groups are kept deliberately small, so every retreat feels personal - less like a holiday package and more like a week designed just for you.
